Celsus Polemaeanus, was a significant administrator during the reign of Roman Ruler Trajan. Celsus Polemaeanus had also been the governor of Asia and He was well known in Ephesus city. Tiberius Julius Aquila (his son) wanted to immortalize his father’s name by building this great structure. Celsus died while the library was still in construction, he is buried next to it.
